PB²D — Profiling Behavioral Dynamics

PB²D® (Profiling Behavioral Dynamics) is an independent psychological assessment practice in the Netherlands, founded and operated by psychologist Robert Parker Brady MSc. PB²D specialises in selection and development assessments for professionals and organisations.

The central principle of PB²D is that psychological characteristics do not have a fixed meaning independent of context. Personality traits, values and cognitive capabilities are therefore not assessed simply as strengths or weaknesses. PB²D evaluates how these characteristics may function in relation to the demands, responsibilities and tensions of a specific professional role.

This approach connects psychological assessment with the context in which behaviour is expected to occur.

Selection assessments

PB²D provides psychological selection assessments for recruitment, appointment and internal career decisions.

A selection assessment examines the match between an individual’s psychological profile and the requirements of a specific role. The assessment considers personality, values and cognitive capabilities in relation to the role context rather than interpreting test results in isolation.

The purpose is not to identify an ideal personality type. It is to determine where characteristics are likely to support the role, where the picture is more nuanced, and where relevant areas of attention may exist.

Development assessments

PB²D also provides development assessments for professionals who want to understand their functioning in a current role or their potential fit with a future role.

Development assessments use the same context-based principle but have a developmental rather than selection-oriented purpose. They examine personal characteristics alongside the behavioural demands of the work environment and identify meaningful areas of alignment, tension and development.

The result is intended to provide a psychologically grounded perspective on professional development rather than a generic personality description.

Psychological assessment

PB²D uses established psychometric principles and psychological assessment methods. Depending on the purpose of the assessment, information may include personality characteristics, personal values, cognitive capabilities, biographical information and the requirements of the professional role.

Information from different sources is interpreted together. No individual questionnaire, test score or characteristic is treated as a standalone judgement about professional suitability or performance.

The assessment is conducted and interpreted by a psychologist. Artificial intelligence and software may support structured analysis and reporting, but professional interpretation and assessment responsibility remain with the psychologist.

Assessment in context

The distinguishing principle of PB²D is assessment in context.

A characteristic such as extraversion, conscientiousness, openness or emotional sensitivity is neither inherently positive nor negative. Its relevance depends on what a role requires, the situations a person encounters and the interaction with other characteristics.

PB²D therefore focuses on the relationship between person, role and context.

This principle is reflected in the PB²D statement:

Insight into personality. Assessment in context.

Training and behaviour in practice

PB²D also provides professional behavioural training.

Training is closely connected to the assessment philosophy. Rather than focusing primarily on theoretical knowledge, participants work with realistic situations, exercises and role-play in which professional behaviour can be observed and developed.

This creates a practical connection between understanding behaviour and demonstrating it in a professional context.

Languages

PB²D assessments, reports, interviews and training can be provided in Dutch or English.

Services in the Netherlands are primarily delivered in Dutch. English-language assessment and training are available when preferred or required, including for international professionals and organisations.
